Article: We make great t-shirts

Teemme hyviä t-paitoja

How can you recognize a good t-shirt?

By the fact that it withstands use and washes, and remains a part of everyday life for a long time. Things are quite simple as long as you want to do them well and responsibly. Quality comes from good raw materials and attention to detail.

Welcome to read about how we make perhaps the most common and widely worn garment in the world. As we know, it can be made in so many different ways. Often, the simplest product is the hardest to make look and feel great for a long time.

Proven responsibility

We have received the highest ratings for two consecutive years in Eetti ry’s annual responsibility comparison. The “Rank Your Brand” report assessed the climate, environmental, and human rights efforts and transparency of 34 Finnish clothing brands. We received full points for our climate efforts and the durability of our clothing.

All the fabrics used in our t-shirts are knitted in Orivesi, Finland, and the t-shirts are sewn locally in Riga, Latvia. The shirts maintain their shape and color as long as you follow the care instructions. The t-shirt should be shaped while still damp. You can shake it out and gently stretch both the length and width. This ensures the fabric settles to the right size after washing. We offer a lifetime manufacturing warranty on all our products.

In Henri, the seams don’t twist

Henri is sewn locally in Riga from jersey fabric knitted in Finland. The material is GOTS-certified organic cotton grown in Turkey. GOTS guarantees that at least 70% of the fibers in the material are organically farmed. The certification also regulates water and chemical use and ensures fair working conditions for employees.

Details make the difference
The fabric is pre-washed before sewing, and it is cut so that the knit lines are horizontal on all the pieces to be stitched together. This is why we can promise that the shirt will not shrink in the first wash, and the side seams will stay straight. The neckline remains neat wash after wash and won’t twist or fray. This makes the t-shirt easy to wear under a blazer or cardigan at work as well.

A well-fitting t-shirt makes everyday life easier
A good fit comes from the right pattern design. Since we humans are not the same shape front and back, a well-fitting t-shirt cannot be either. In Henri, the pattern is designed according to the wearer’s shape. To enhance comfort and shape retention, 4% elastane has been added to the yarn. This ensures the shirt stays snug and keeps its shape for a long time.

ILMO – BLACK CLASSIC MADE FROM BAMBOO VISCOSE

The short-sleeve Ilmo and long-sleeve Isko are made with the same process as the Henri t-shirts, meaning the seams don’t twist, and the shirts maintain their shape for a long time. Bamboo viscose holds its color, which is why black stays black wash after wash.

Perfectly Comfortable Bamboo Viscose
Ilmo and Isko feel silky soft against the skin. Bamboo viscose is naturally antibacterial and absorbs moisture like wool. This means the material feels pleasantly dry in any situation.

Bamboo viscose keeps you warm in winter, but feels comfortably cool in summer. That’s why Ilmo and Isko are perfect companions all year round.

Quality Reduces Carbon Footprint and Price
Over half of a t-shirt’s carbon footprint comes from usage – that is, care and washing. That’s why it’s essential for the material to be high quality and durable. When the usage of a product increases, the emissions per product decrease dramatically. Likewise, the cost per wear decreases, making the t-shirt more affordable every day.
